“We had two pleasant comfortable days in the guesthouse, with a large room and amenities including a fire, which was lit the first night. Comfortable bed, plenty of space, good shower.
Simona, the manager/housekeeper is an excellent cook, specializing in local produce. Her kitchen is full of red peppers, tomatoes, strawberries etc. Breakfasts are substantial, with fruit, eggs and home-made jams. Dinners are varied but always include soup and end with a sponge tart or pancake, with usually a pork or lamb main dish. I can recommend Romanian wine, especially the reds.
Copsa Mare is a perfect small village in the Saxon style, with re-tiled roofs on all the houses. There is a fortified church worth visiting and beautiful countryside all around. Our room was €122; dinner is €20.”
